A strange phenomenon has emerged in the world of Russian poetry at the beginning of the new century. On the one hand, readers’ interest in contemporary poetry works is declining; on the other hand, the number of poets writing and publishing works has risen sharply. The author of “New Russia: Literature World” and famous poetic critic Sergei Chuprlinin estimates that there are currently not fewer than 15,000 poets in Russia. They not only write poetry in Russian, but also publish poetry. In the 2005 “Prix Award (” specifically for young people under 25 years of age) selection process, the jury collected a total of more than 50,000 works, mostly poetry. Now every literary periodical (such as “Friendship of Nations,” “Star,” “Flag,” “New World,” “October,” etc.) must publish at least three columns of poetry every month to publish contemporary poets s work. Since 1995, the poetry magazine Arion has been published in four editions a year. Its purpose is to “fully reflect the diversity of contemporary poetry and record its development.” The magazine publishes two series of books: one entitled “Voice” (New Poetry Collection), one entitled “ Reading Room ”(Selected Works of Famous Contemporary Poets). The poetry site stihi.ru is a collection of millions of poems by 50,000 authors. However, this full-blown poetic “production” campaign has not received the corresponding response from the readers. Poets often say that they do not expect widespread attention. Instead of writing poetry for their readers, they are writing poems for themselves and for the Russian language. The poet Yevgeny Bunimovich even pointed out that “there is not much difference between writing poems and other recreational ways.” But his description of the situation in the poem is far less comfortable: I will refuse all activities no longer make fun of them all go to hell
