Earth has not anything to show more fair：
Dull would he be of soul who could pass by
A sight so touching in its majesty：
This city now doth， like a garment， wear
The beauty of the morning; silent， bare;
Ships， towers， domes， theatres， and temples lie
Open unto the fields， and to the sky;
All bright and glittering in the smokeless air.
Never did sun more beautifully steep
In his first splendour， valley， rock， or hill;
Ne’er saw I， never felt， a calm so deep！
The river glideth at his own sweet will：
Dear God！ the very houses seem asleep;
And all that mighty heart is lying still！
大地上沒有其他事物比这座大桥更壮丽：
经过它的人们，无不陶醉其间，
宏伟的景象，如此动人心弦：
清晨，城市沉浸在一片美妙的霞光里，
像披着一件透明的衣裳，宁静、清晰。
船舶，塔楼，穹顶，教堂和剧院，
伸向天空，展向平原;
纯净的空气中，一切那样的明朗亮丽。
旭日斜洒着它最绚烂的光彩，
我从未看见过，从未感受到峡谷、岩石和山岭，
如此深沉的静谧！
河流在随意自在地滑行，
上帝啊！千家万户还在酣睡，
那颗伟大非凡的心，依然尚未苏醒！
作者简介
威廉·华兹华斯（1770—1850），英国浪漫主义诗人，曾为“桂冠诗人”。其诗歌理论动摇了英国古典主义诗学的统治，有力地推动了英国诗歌的革新和浪漫主义运动的发展。他是文艺复兴运动以来最重要的英语诗人之一。本诗是华兹华斯根据他的一次经历写成的。据记载，1802年7月31日，华兹华斯在赴法国的途中经过威斯敏斯特大桥，他驻足在桥上观看时，不禁被伦敦的美景所吸引，后来他根据这次经历和当时的感受写成此诗。
