The Bureau of Mines investigated cyanide-carbon adsorption of gold recovered from arsenic pyrite concentrates. A tonne of leaching was tested on a gravity concentrate containing 21.8 ounces of gold, 6.4 ounces of silver and 85% -35 mesh. The results obtained from the leaching concentrate showed that the extraction rates of gold and silver were 96.9% and 90.7%, respectively, after 96 hours of leaching. The gold and silver solutions obtained are used to recover the gold and silver by soaking the granular activated carbon in a convective manner. As a result of obtaining 2.556 ounces of gold per tonne of carbon and 502 ounces of silver, these gold and silver loads far exceeded what one thought so realistic to date.
