武昌教案爆发后,地方官因官场积习及办案程序遭冲击有意延误办案以惩罚教士。教士对绅权的破坏使武童点燃了这一冲突的导火线。而民众或出于宣泄、报复的心理,或出于盲从,他们的身影在教案中时时可见。因此,武昌教案的分析,不仅能了解当时的民教关系,更能透射出晚清武昌社会内部深层问题,从而透过教案反观社会变动。
After the outbreak of the Wuchang Pilot Project, local officials deliberately delayed their handling of cases to punish the clergy because of official accusations and handling procedures. Priest’s destruction of the gentry power led the military to ignite the fuse of this conflict. The public or out of vengeance, retaliation psychology, or out of blind obedience, their shadow in the teaching case can be seen from time to time. Therefore, the analysis of Wuchang teaching plan can not only understand the current relationship between the people and education, but also reveal the deep internal problems of Wuchang society in the late Qing Dynasty, and thus reflect the social changes through teaching plans.
