In 1972, the State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs set up a historical office and started the historical project. The historical project includes eight historical monographs compiled by the Bureau of Education and Cultural Affairs to record foreign education and cultural exchange activities in the United States and interviews and recordings with past officials of the bureau to record the past work experience of the Bureau. After the Caterpillar entered the White House in 1977, the project basically stopped. The purpose of this project is to make historical archives, related monographs and interviews recorded by the State Department’s Bureau of Education and Culture serve as references for future government-related staff so that they have a historical perspective.
