1995年1月1日,由世界上104个国家和地区、1994年4月15日在摩洛哥的马拉喀什签署的《建立世界贸易组织的决议》正式生效了,管理世界贸易长达47年的关税和贸易总协定(GATT)退出了历史舞台,一个新的国际机构世界贸易组织(WTO)正式成立,这将对世界经济和贸易产生深远的影响。纵观世界经济发展史可见,无论是关贸易总协定的产生和消失,还是世界贸易组织的诞生,无不是世界经济一体化要求的必然结果。
