Death of a Salesman,one of Arthur Miller’s representative plays,got an immediate success after its first performance in New York.It won not only the New York Drama Critics’Award but also the Pulitzer Prize in the year of 1949.There is no doubt that Arthur Miller’s masterpiece,Death of a Salesman,helps him to reach the climax of his writing career.Most of the critics have tended to have a discussion about the protagonist,Willy Loman,but they have paid less attention to his elder son,Biff.In fact,Biff is the only character in the play that shows any real psychological growth.This thesis is intended to make an analysis of Biff Loman in the light of his growth process and his relationship between him and other characters in this play.
