The Japanese government announced that as from August 1, the tariffs on imported beef will be increased in accordance with the Tariff Provisional Measures Law to impose emergency import restrictions on beef. Tariffs for fresh and frozen beef have risen from 38.5% to 50% and the basic price of pork imports has risen from 410 yen per kilogram to 510 yen per kilogram.
