Broader results. Discourse analysis shows that Sun Wu is more influential, but also finds distortions and inaccuracies in his quotation of “Art of War”. The recognition of Sun Wu and its art of war by the American newspaper is multi-faceted: the recognition of the universal wisdom of the Art of War and the identification of the Chinese culture represented by Sun Wu as the “other” identity. Finally, it discusses how to improve China’s international discourse power and soft power through Chinese interpretation of Sun Wu’s thought.
