In “King Lear,” the blindness in the character’s personality led them to the wrong path. Although King Lear’s vision had no major problems, his lack of insight and comprehension was considered blind. On the contrary, Gloucester, though unable to see his eyesight, has the reason and foresight that King Lear lacks. This disagreement led to the identity crisis of King Lear and Gloucester respectively. Through the play, Shakespeare initially deconstructed the internal unity of blindness and foresight, but at the end of the play, reconstructed the internal unity between the two.
