厦门市委、市政府坚持贯彻落实“科学技术是第一生产力”的重要思想,把发展高新技术产业摆到重要的战略地位,大力发展高新技术产业。2004年上半年,全市工业总产值为780.9亿元,61家重点高新技术企业工业总产值办443.3亿元人民币,占全市工业总产值的56.8％,比去年同期增长28.3％;重点高新技术企业总出口交货值204.3亿元人民币,占全市出口交货值总额59.4％。目前,全市高新技术企业增至228家。厦门市高新技术产业进入了稳定发展时期,对推动全市经济增长和技术升级将起到十分重要的作用。
