The authors designed a transparent Pupicon instrument (see illustration) that quickly measures the pupil size in millimeters. Some diseases early can cause pupil changes, the measurement contributes to the diagnosis and prognosis of the disease. This instrument is easily accessible to all medical personnel in the case of acute head injury. Diagnostic measurements are more accurate than with your fingers and can be done anywhere. Pathological changes of the pupil often appear before the signs of blood pressure and pulse changes.
