The effective residual ink concentration (ERIC) method is a very meaningful detection technique. The decrease in whiteness of the deinked pulp from which the newsprint is produced is generally thought to be caused by poor ink stripping and / or inefficient flotation. However, Paprican found that redeposition of ink during shredding or concentrating was also one of the reasons for the decrease in whiteness of the deinked pulp. During pulping and concentration, the ink that has been peeled from the fibers may again be permanently or temporarily affixed to the fiber surface. By identifying the key factors behind each redeposition, Paprican has developed several easy and economical ways to improve ink redeposition.
