Almost all of the main characters in the Tennessee-Williams drama are in a profound spiritual ecological crisis. Proud, contrived, cowardly or distorted women, lonely, frustrated men are all represented as escapists, rebels and homeless in industrialized societies. They have taken various measures to counter the erosion and annihilation of human and human nature in a mechanized and commercialized industrial society. Williams has a profound sense of industrial civilization criticism of the survival of these groups of people: the character world under the shadow of the crisis manifests the alienation effect of the values of industrial civilization on human beings as well as the spiritual ecology caused by the fragmentation of man and nature in the industrialized era crisis.
