Objective To investigate the relationship between generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and polymorphisms of 5-HT2A receptor gene T102C and A-1438G loci in pilots. Methods Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to detect the polymorphisms of two loci in 19 pilots with GAD and 55 healthy controls. Results There was no significant difference in the genotypes of T102C locus between GAD group and healthy control group (P> 0.05), and there was a significant difference in the genotypes of A-1438G locus (P <0.05 ). The frequency of allele G-1438 in patients group (65.8%) was significantly higher than that in control group (34.2%). Conclusion A-1438G polymorphism of 5-HT2A gene may be related to GAD in pilots and G-1438 allele may be a susceptibility gene to GAD in pilots.
