People call it a “permanent airplane,” a “perpetual motion machine” that can fly for a few months at an altitude of more than 20,000 meters above the ground and, according to Canadians who built it, set off a brand new era. Last month, a group of scientists flew an unmanned, three-meter-long electric plane off the muddy fields near Ottawa using a radio controller to maneuver the aircraft 130 meters above ground flight. A few minutes later, they switched off the aircraft’s battery power, using the microwaves launched from the ground as a motivation to continue the flight.
