INTRODUCTION According to a survey of the mid-900 to 1050, the Agniko-Eger pyrite-type gold deposit (Figure 1) in the Yountle area of Québec is a typical deposit of volcanic-derived jet gold mineralization. If this interpretation is correct, this will be of great importance to the understanding of the law of prospecting in the north of the Abidibon greenstone and in the greenstone belts worldwide. In fact, this deposit has only a trace amount of copper enrichment relative to background values, with zinc and lead missing. On the graph of gold and copper + zinc enrichment, the metal content is within the range of reticular gold deposits. Barnett et al. (1982) and recent studies, which dealt with the size and morphology of pyrite, noted that the three types of pyrite in the gold mineralization and stratigraphic sequence
