Western sociologists divide society into two parts: traditional society and modern society. The former is backward, closed and static. The latter is advanced, open and mobile. The difference between traditional society and modern society is obvious and multi-level. This article focuses on the difference between the two from the perspective of social interaction. In the traditional society, the social interaction is closed, dependent and unitary, while the social interaction in the modern society is open, autonomous and diversified. At the same time, there is a dialectical relationship between social interaction and social progress.
