本文译自纽约麦克米伦出版公司1945年出版发行的美国著名报人鲍威尔的回忆录《在华二十五年》(My Twenty—Five Years In China)中的第十一章。鲍威尔(John Benjamin Powell),系美国在旧中国上海发行的著名英文报纸《密勒氏评论报》(Millards Review of the Far East)的主编。他自1917年以新闻记者的身份来华,直至1942年夏才作为美日两国的交换战俘离华返美。期间的25年,他以记者特有的敏感,关注乃至参与了中国近代史上的许多重大事件。本文是作者作为当事人之一,对轰动一时的临城劫案的回忆。
This article is from the eleventh chapter of the memoir of Powell, My Twenty-Five Years In China, published in 1945 by Macmillan Publishers in New York. John Benjamin Powell is the editor-in-chief of the Millards Review of the Far East, a well-known English-language newspaper the United States has published in Shanghai, China. He came to China as a journalist since 1917 and returned to the United States as an exchange of prisoners of war between the United States and Japan until the summer of 1942. During the 25 years during which he was sensitive to reporters and was concerned about and participated in many major events in modern Chinese history. This article is the author as one of the parties, a sensation Lincheng robbery memories.
