Objective To investigate the effect of mental health status on the pregnancy outcome in women who underwent IVF-ET or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) for the first time. Methods Thirty-nine women with IVF-ET or ICSI were surveyed by using the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) and Subjective Well-Being Index (IWB) questionnaires. The relationship between each index and psychological factors was analyzed. Results In the SCL-90 scale, the interpersonal and paranoid factors were lower than the national norm (P <0.05). The negative factor that affects subjective well-being among SCL-90 factors is coercion. There was a significant correlation between paranoid factors and the number of oocytes retrieved, the number of fertilized eggs, the number of cleavage and the number of frozen embryos (P <0.05), but not with the pregnancy outcome (P> 0.05). Conclusion The mental health status of female patients who did not receive IVF-ET or ICSI for first time in this center had no significant effect on pregnancy outcome.
