-For the purpose of extending the service life of a steel sheet piling wharf in Lianyungang Harbor, a protection system consisting of impressed current cathodic protection and protective coating is studied and applied. The paper presents the way of how to uniformly distribute applied current to the whole structure and how to avoid the harmful effects on the hull of berthing ship. The protection system has fulfilled the design expectations and has worked extremely well in the last 7 years. Data obtained from the coupons connected with the protected structure by weight-loss method have verified adequacy of achieved protection on the whole structure and the protection efficiency is over 82%.
