Naval Aviation Propulsion Center, asked some companies to participate in the development of a low-cost, single-use turbojet engine. This engine is used as a supersonic flying missile power plant. The Naval Air Propulsion Center proposed the following design requirements for the new engine: a 14-in. Diameter (35.56 cm) diameter, a total length of 44 inches (1.12 meters) and a total weight of 260 pounds (118 kg). The un-installed static thrust force is 2,300 pounds (1043 kilograms) at sea level for M = 1.5 and 1,600 pounds (725.7 kilograms) for sea level at M = 0.9. The inlet pressure recovers 90% at M = 1.5; the inlet pressure recovers 100% at M = 0.9. This engine must be able to work with JP-5 and EXOTHDC fuels. Good productivity, can produce 100 to 1000 units each year.
