《学术研究》2000年第6期发表的林志杰《1854年广东洪兵围攻广州之役考辨》一文，批评了本文作者在1983年发表的《广东洪兵起义期间中外反动派的勾结》一文中的若干论点，但批评者所说并不令人信服。从整体上看，当年的论说似无大不当之处。现谨就林文的指责之点进行必要的答辩。
The article “Academic Research”, Issue 6, 2000, published by Lin Zhijie on “The Battle of Guangdong Hong Bei’s Siege in Guangzhou in 1854,” criticized the article published by the author in 1983 in “Collusion between Chinese and Foreign Reactionaries during the Hongbing Uprising in Guangdong Province” A number of arguments, but critics say is not convincing. On the whole, there seems to be no big mistake in that year’s argument. Now I am going to make the necessary reply on the point of Lin Wen’s accusation.
