在过去的板栗生产中,多系实生繁殖,不考虑授粉树的问题。通过良种嫁接,可以有效地提早结果,早期丰产。但有的品种在一些地方空棚较多;在实生栗中也有不少单株全部或大部空棚。根据徐家和吴家大队七一年以来所进行的板栗杂交和授粉组合试验证明,空棚的主要原因之一是授粉问题,另外还有种性和肥、水条件问题。授粉,可以提高成棚率,增大果实个头,显著提高产量。父本成熟期早晚、栗实大小、品质特征等,在当年都有直接影响。因此,在今后果树嫁接和新建栗园时,应注意配置适宜的授粉品种;在品种单一的栗园,可以实行人工辅助授粉;授粉时选用早熟、粒大、品质好的品种作授粉树,可以更好地提高产量和品质。用中国板栗的花粉给新鲜栗授粉,是改进新鲜栗品质的一个途径。
