Objective To study the relative bust index of newborns with different gestational age to provide reference data for the evaluation of fetal growth and development. Methods The cross-sectional time-series cluster sampling method was used to measure the growth, body length, height, head circumference and chest circumference of 8 357 neonates of different gestational age in Shenzhen Hospital from 2005 to 2006. The method was Bust-related index of length. Results 1) The body length-chest circumference index (BCI), Ververck index (s) of neonates (male + female, male and female) with different gestational age , VI), Elisma index (EI) mean gestational age ± standard deviation. Three body length bust index increased with the increase of gestational age, showing increased fetal body fullness and thoracic parenchyma degree of continuous improvement. 2) The BCI, VI values show the gender differences in male and female highs, revealing lower male fullness than women. EI 34 weeks pregnant less than women before pregnancy, 35 weeks pregnant women than women. 3) Compared with 1986 and 15 cities in China, the BCI values of neonates in 35-43 weeks of gestation increased significantly in Shenzhen. There was a trend of change in the growth of the BCI in the neonatal period with a statistically significant difference (P <0.001). Conclusions The mean number of BCI, VI and EI gestational age in different gestational age newborns increases with the increase of gestational age, and the fullness of human body and the development of thorax are also increasing. The development of fullness and thorax of male is lower than that of female. BCI index there is a clear trend of change in the time period.
