在江泽民同志视察上海市档案局工作并发表题为《切实加强档案工作,为社会主义现代化建设事业服务》的重要讲话10周年前夕,再读江泽民同志这一重要讲话,倍感亲切,颇多新的感受。联系处于世纪之交的我国档案工作实际,这一讲话仍具有十分重要的现实指导意义,特别是其中许多观点是与江泽民总书记在党的十四届五中全会上提出的“可持续发展”这一新的发展战略思路是一脉相承的。因此,重新认真学习江泽民同志的重要讲话,深入研究我国档案事业可持续发展战略问题,是处于世纪之交的所有档案部门与档案工作者面临的战略性课题。 一、从可持续发展高度认识现阶段档案工作的任务 1995年底,在党的十四届五中全会上,江泽民同志指出:“必须更新发展思路”,“在现代化建设中,必须把可持续发展作为一个重大战略。”这是当今世界经济与社会发展所共同面临的战略抉择,同样也是我国的经济与社会发展（当然包括档案事业的发展）面临的战略抉择。
