Japan gained legitimacy in its colonial areas and adopted various measures to consolidate its colonial status, including the ideological and cultural realm. Emerging media broadcasts of the 1920s were exactly the dual purpose of Japanese colonial rulers propagandizing and educating Taiwanese people. All the policies and regulations governing the broadcasting industry are aimed at this purpose. As a result, Taiwan broadcasting has been reduced to a despotic accomplice, a target of violence and a tool for assimilation.
