在美国加利福尼亚州的网状高速公路上,大量使用着一种新形式的反光标志牌(见下图)。其特点是把一种含棱镜结构(Cube Corner)的圆形反射器(称之Retro-reflector)粘贴在标志牌的油漆底板上,组成白色的边框及文字线条。这种棱镜结构具有优异的回归反光性能,经测试,在观察角为0.2°,入射角为-4°的条件下,其逆反射系数可达2000,是一般高亮级反光膜的6~7倍。这种道路标志牌无论在白天或黑夜都有良好的可视性。夜间在汽车前灯照射下,几百米以外,司机能清晰见到标志轮廓及其指示的信息。
