Published in 1928 Zhao Yuan Ren “New Poetry Collection”, is a bold attempt to combine poetry and music. While bringing a whole new listening experience to the listeners, they also impart highly contagious music features to those new poems that serve as lyrics; these works, by means of tunes, also give listeners another dimension of auditory experience. This combination of poetry and music urges the poets to seriously rethink the phonological problems of the new poetry and to explore the components of “music” in the language. This unique collection of poems, from a single side, shows the efforts made by the poets in the 1920s for the new poem and the artistic achievements they have achieved, marking a precious sum for the exploration of the issue of the new poem in the 20th century.
