收拾好行李准备飞加拿大的前一天,2013年诺贝尔文学奖揭晓了。我临时往随身行李里塞了本艾丽斯·门罗的小说集《我年轻时的朋友》,飞往了温哥华。按照我们去年的经验,一路上,我在重温门罗小说的时候,也在不停想象这个举世瞩目的奖项会在温哥华掀起怎样的文学热浪。落地后我首先去找了几份当地的报纸,出人意料的是,当日头版几乎都与一宗交通肇事逃逸案有关,此案的遇害人是一位正当妙龄的华裔少女,少女父母那悲伤的面容令人动容,一时间竟也使我忘了诺奖。接下来的几天,我在温哥华闲逛,慢慢发现当地的书店,比如最大的连锁书店Chapters,就像什
The day before the packed baggage was ready to fly to Canada, the 2013 Nobel Prize for Literature was announced. I flew to Ben Walker’s luggage, Alice’s Monroe’s novel, Friends of My Youth, to Vancouver for a while. Based on our experience last year, I remembered Monroe novels along the way as I kept imagining what kind of literary heatwave this vanquished prize would bring to Vancouver. After landing, I first went to find a few local newspapers. Surprisingly, the front page of the day was almost related to a traffic accident and escape case. The murderer of the case was a young, Touching moving face, a time actually make me forget Nobel Prize. The next few days, I wandered in Vancouver, slowly find the local bookstore, such as the largest chain of bookstores Chapters, like
