1.引言当前,各个研究领域都积累了大量的数据,而且每天仍在提供新的数据。但是,由于这些数据量过大,往往使得人们犹豫不定,不知从何处下手才好。结果常是资料越积越多,没有机会发挥它的效用。目前最重要的课题是,把这些大量的数据有效而有机地结合起来,从中抽出有价值的情报,作为研究或实际工作等的工具加以利用。从这个意义上来说,地质学、地震学领域也不例外,相继出版的在活断层图上载有的活断层、长期持续积累的有关地震方面的数据等,不计其数。在从上述数据中研究彼此之间是否有关联性时,数据组合的数目非常庞大,只有计算机才能处理。在进行原子能发电站等的选址调查时,当
1. INTRODUCTION At present, a great deal of data is accumulated in all research fields and new data are still being provided daily. However, because of the large amount of data, people often hesitate and do not know where to start. The result is often more information and more, there is no chance to play its effectiveness. At present, the most important issue is to combine these large amounts of data effectively and organically, extract valuable information from them and make use of them as tools for research or practical work. In this sense, geology and seismology are no exception. There are countless reports of active faults carried by active fault maps, long-term accumulated earthquake-related data, and so on. When studying whether there is any correlation with each other from the above data, the number of data combinations is very large and can only be handled by a computer. When conducting a site survey such as an atomic power station,
