准噶尔盆地是一个四周被褶皱山系所限的内陆断陷盆地,周边发育有深、大断裂带,是在华力西中期褶皱基底上沿断裂下沉而形成(图1),面积13万平方公里,沉积岩厚达13000米。既然它是发育在较新的褶皱基底之上与皱褶山系之中,那么,它后期的发育必然要受基底与四周山系的影响。因而,由于天山在历次构造运动中的强烈上升,使盆地南部沿天山走向发育成为深坳陷,即天山山前坳陷;北部下降幅度不如南部
The Junggar Basin is an inland rift basin limited by fold mountains, surrounded by deep and large fault zones formed along the fault subsidence on the mid-western rift basement (Figure 1), with an area of 130,000 square feet Km, sedimentary rock thickness of 13000 meters. Since it is developed over newer fold basement and foldable mountain system, its later development must be affected by the basement and surrounding mountains. Thus, due to the strong rise of Tianshan in the previous tectonic movements, the southern part of the basin developed along the Tianshan Mountains into a deep depression, that is, the Tianshan Piedmont Depression;
