The Zhejiang Export Goods(Kuala Lumpur)Fair, hosted by the Department of Commerce of Zhejiang Province and organized by Zhejiang Broad International Convention & Exhibition Co., Ltd., took place for the first time in December 2013. The aim of the fair is to base on Malaysia and radiate to the surrounding ASEAN region, the south Asia region, and the Middle East, to display the quality of Export goods made in Zhejiang.
The first session welcomed 46 companies with 101 booths, and consist of three sections: manufacturing and hardware, customer goods and gifts, food and beverage, the trade visitors come from governmental departments from ASEAN regions and purchasers from south-east region. To this day, the fair has become one of the most effective trade platforms between Zhejiang Province and ASEAN country. As a premier exhibition fair for Zhejiang companies to open the ASEAN market, it is expected to be held annually in December.
M alaysia enjoys a stable economy and good economic perspectives. Among the five founding member states of ASEAN nations, it was the first to establish a diplomatic relationship with China. In addition, Malaysia is strategically positioned in the ASEAN region, and relatively close to West Asia, South Asia, the Europeans, and Africa. The marketoriented economy and preferential economic policies are also in favor of the businesses in the region.
According to statistics, the SinoASEAN trade mainly concentrates on five senior member states of ASEAN, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines, among which Malaysia ranks top. In 2002, the framework agreement on comprehensive economic cooperation between the people’s republic of China and the Association of South East Asian nations was signed and from 2003 to 2008, the trade volume between China and Malaysia has been increasing at an annual increase rate of 24.2%.
From 2009, Malaysia has been the largest ASEAN trade partner and after Japan and South Korea, it has become the third Asian country that possesses an over 100 billion US dollar trade volume with China. 2014 marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the two countries, and it is expected that the Zhejiang Export Goods (Kuala Lumpur)Fair will have a promising future.
