Aryl Sulfatase A (ASA), which is present in most human cells, has been found to excrete this enzyme significantly in the urine of patients with acute leukemia. Studying the excretion of this enzyme is an effective indicator to observe the anti-leukemia treatment response. Although the trial is simple, non-invasive, and reliable, it is rarely used in routine treatment of leukemia. The authors studied the excretion of ASA from the urine before and after treatment in different stages of adult acute non-lymphocytic leukemia (ANLL). Ten patients with ANLL were studied.
