瓮棺墓是用瓮或壶等陶器作为棺的墓葬,在东亚广泛分布于中国内地和东北地区,以及朝鲜半岛、日本列岛等地。在韩国,新石器时代即已出现瓮棺墓,在青铜器时代,瓮棺墓通常采用将松菊里型陶器直立放置后上面再加盖的形式。到了初期铁器时代,瓮棺的组合方式主要有合口式和合盖式两种。合口式是将大小相近的两件陶器的口沿相连,或将一件略插入另一件;合盖式则是在放置尸体的主瓮上以盖子或陶器进行封闭。此外,还有横置一件陶器放置尸体后以石头封闭陶器口部的单瓮墓,也有三瓮式
