本文是《文心雕龙》有关问题的专论。在《文心雕龙》中,“气”字被频繁使用,就刘勰的创作论和鉴赏批评的主张来看,“气”在作者、读者和作品之间形成了一种绵延不断、循环往复的“气脉”式的连贯关系,所以,以“生命力”来解释“气”字或许是一种有益的尝试。《文心雕龙》的写作有着深刻而复杂的经学文化背景,刘勰本人也有着比较明确而自觉的经学意图,这一点同样体现在“风骨”篇中。“风骨“篇以“体要”为基本前提提出了“风清骨峻”的理想美学规范,使这一范畴具有了以“防文滥”为其现实指向的经学旨趣,这在当时特定的文化语境中是务实而深刻的。文章或从“情”和“采”的关系入手,重新阐释“情采”篇,可以看出“情采”篇所谈问题的核心是“情之采”,而非“情与采”,真情的自我表现是一种至上的“采”即“贲象穷白”之“采”。其真情是一种圣情,是承载自然之道的儒家真情。“物色”篇的主旨是“心物交融”,刘勰在文中关于审美主客体的双向互动关系的分析,不是一般的“物感”,是在强调“物感”的同时,还强调了心对物的驾驭和统摄,把“随物宛转”和“与心徘徊”视为不可偏废的同一过程。
