在“互联网兴起”的时代,通过并购进入新市场是思科常用的手段之一,我们曾在一年之中收购了20家以上的企业,媒体称我们为“并购机器”。我的前一个职位是首席战略官,因而我有机会深入调查了其中超过70起收购案。然而遗憾的是,我发现,频繁的收购让思科已不再具有一个创新型公司的优势。在过去的几年中,网络俨然已经成为了一个高投入的产业。这个产业所有的主角——思科,我们的竞争对手,当然还有我们的客户,都感受到了来自产业演进的震撼。我将从创新角度来阐述如何使思科在未来的网络产业里屹立不倒。
In the “Internet boom” era, entering new markets through M & A was one of Cisco’s most common tactics. We bought more than 20 companies in a year, and the media called us “M & A machines.” My previous position was Chief Strategy Officer, so I had the opportunity to investigate more than 70 of these acquisitions in depth. Unfortunately, however, I found that frequent acquisitions made Cisco no longer have the advantage of an innovative company. In the past few years, the Internet has become a highly invested industry. All the protagonists in the industry - Cisco, our competitors and, of course, our customers, all feel the shock of industrial evolution. I will be from an innovative perspective on how to make Cisco stand in the future of the network industry.
