Wang Jing, who only entered Fudan University for one year, passed the “cuspea” exam in August 1985—that is, a Sino-U.S. joint venture initiated by the famous physicist Professor Lee Jung-Tao to study in the United States to pursue a PhD in Physics. Exams and excellent results. In the competition with six or seven hundred outstanding students from across the country, Wang Jing’s total score tied with the other two in the exams of the classic physics, general physics, and modern physics of the US proposition. The physics leader is the leader. How did Wang Jing learn, how did his family influence him, and what was his learning in secondary school? The editor of this newspaper visited Fudan University’s Associate Professor Jia Qimin and East China Normal University with great interest. The following are the excerpts of their conversations with the editors of this newspaper. They are the parents of Zhang Datong, Wang Jing, and Wang Jing. From the excerpts of these conversations, readers may not be able to get any tips like what they learned about Wang Jing, but whether they are parents or teachers or students, they can provide some questions worth considering.
