Martin has experienced an important lesson in his life. He will never forget it. Mr. Lee is his teacher.
One day, Martin and Mr. Lee went out for a walk. After a while they reached a farm where Martin saw a pair of old shoes. They seemed to belong to a poor farmer who would get back home after a whole day of hard work. Martin thought of an idea to have fun, “Why dont we hide these shoes and wait for the farmer? It would be fun to watch his reaction when he cant find his shoes.” Mr. Lee felt bad. He thought and asked Martin to put some coins in each of his shoes.
The farmer finished his work and came to his shoes. As he put his foot in one of the shoes, he felt something hard. When he checked, he was surprised to find coins. He took them out and saw if someone was looking for them. He didnt see anyone, so he kept them in his pocket. And then he found the coins in the other shoe. He got moved and tears came out of his eyes.
The farmer looked at the sky, “Many thanks to that unknown person, you help me at the time of need. Because of your kindness and help, now I can buy medicine for my wife and bread for my hungry children.”
Martins eyes were filled with tears. After the farmer left, Mr. Lee said, “Now tell me what makes you happier, hiding his shoes or keeping coins in them?”
Martin said, “Now I understand joy of giving is much more than taking.”
