English prepositions are defined as auxiliary words or function words in traditional linguistics. Compared with the real words, the number of prepositions in English is less and has a stronger closeness. Most of the research on prepositions focuses on collocation with the real words. With the rise and development of cognitive linguistics, the study of prepositions extends to the study of conceptual metaphors. Most researchers begin to study the development of prepositions from the semantic expansion of space concepts to the expansion of the conceptual semantics of time into the metaphorical meaning of other related concepts path. The article attempts to use cognitive linguistics as a starting point to illustrate the relationship between the prepositions of orientation. The prepositions of orientations are fundamentally dynamic. The characteristics of relative staticness are essentially a point on the continuum of dynamic paths, Therefore, English orientation prepositions are dynamic and continuous in nature.
