Calcitonin gene related peptide (Calcitonin gene related peptide, CGRP) is one of the strongest known vasodilators. The link between the research of CGRP and the occurrence and development of the disease is receiving more and more attention. We measured 38 cases of severe pneumonia in neonates before and after treatment of plasma CGRP levels, and compared with normal newborns, and for statistical analysis. The results are reported below. 1 Subjects and Methods 1.1 Subjects We measured cases were hospitalized neonatal ward admitted to a total of 38 cases of severe pneumonia in children, including 23 males and 15 females. Admission at the maximum age of 24 days, a minimum of 3 hours, an average of 12.6 days. The control group was a healthy newborn in our hospital. Totally 22 cases had normal liver and kidney function and no heart-brain-lung disease. There were 11 males and 11 females, the maximum age of 22 days and the minimum of 2 hours, an average of 13.4 days.
