高冰草是高产优质牧草，为研究其利用咸水种植的可能性，进行了咸水发芽试验，幼苗及成年植株咸水灌溉试验，结果表明高冰革具有一定的耐盐碱性，用＜12g／l的咸水灌溉，对其生长发育无明显的影响，用低矿化度（5．84g／l）咸水灌溉高冰草，还有改良盐碱的效果。
