Objective To detect Lactobacillus paracasei and Streptococcus mutans in children with dental caries, and to explore the significance of Lactobacillus oralis and Streptococcus mutans in the detection of dental caries in children. Methods From January 2013 to December 2014, 50 cases of dental caries admitted to Department of Stomatology, Shaoxing People’s Hospital were selected as the observation group and 50 cases of healthy caries-free children as the control group. Lactobacillus and Streptococcus mutans were tested in the oral cavity of two groups of children, and their relationship with caries in children was analyzed. Results The positive rate of Lactobacillus, the positive rate of Streptococcus mutans and the positive rate of Lactobacillus + Streptococcus mutans in the oral cavity of the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P <0.05). The Lactobacillus + Streptococcus mutans in the observation group were all negative The proportion was significantly less than the control group (P <0.05). The positive rate of Lactobacillus in oral cavity, the positive rate of Streptococcus mutans and the positive rate of Lactobacillus + Streptococcus mutans in both caries-bearing group and carious dental caries group were significantly higher than those in control group (P <0.05) Lactobacillus plus Streptococcus mutans were significantly lower than the control group (P <0.05). The positive rate of Lactobacillus, the positive rate of Streptococcus mutans and the positive rate of Lactobacillus plus Streptococcus mutans between the caries-bearing group and the high caries-bearing group No difference (P> 0.05). Lactobacilli and Streptococcus mutans were significantly associated with caries in children (P <0.05). Conclusion Lactobacillus paracasei and Streptococcus mutans are closely related to the incidence of dental caries and are the risk factors of dental caries in children.
