KP共聚物是以腐植酸钾(KHm)、聚丙烯酰胺(PAM)和羧甲基纤维素(CMC)作为主料,加入适量起着助溶、增效、润滑及稳定作用的表面活性剂,在一定的温度和压力下共聚而成的一种复合型泥浆处理剂。使其对泥浆性能起着综合性的调整作用。据全国二十多个省、区地质、冶金、煤炭、核工业等系统的地质、探矿队反映,KP共聚物不但具有良好的抑制水化、防止坍塌、稀释降稠、利于除砂等作用,而且还具有润滑钻具、抗钙镁污染和耐高温等性能。是一种性能比较理想、适应范围比较广泛的综合处理剂,不论在大小口径钻进,以及在小口径绳索取心钻探中均收到了较好的经济效果。
