言吾闽20世纪上半叶之诗者,莫不盛称同光体。同光体者何?石遗陈衍云:“同光体者,苏堪与我戏称同(同治)光(光绪)以来诗人不墨守盛唐者。”又云:“同光体风格可分为清苍幽峭与生涩奥衍两者。前者其诗:字皆人人能识之字,句皆人人能造之句,及积字成句,积句成韵,积韵成章,遂无前人已言之意,已写之景;又皆后人欲言之意,欲写之景。后者则多追求语必惊人,字忌习见。”吾人韪前者而否后者。同光体仅闽诗之一流派耳。或以为闽诗皆陈衍之徒,则误矣。清末民初,“诗界革命”之说,风行全国,时代潮流,无可抗拒。所谓:“新世
