Objective: To understand the changes of thyroid function in diabetic patients. Methods: Serum free T3 (FT3), free T4 (FT4) and thyrotropin (TSH) levels were measured in 105 diabetes patients and 60 normal controls. Glycated hemoglobin levels were measured in patients with diabetes mellitus (nearly 2-3 months Blood sugar control), combined with the patient’s gender, duration and other factors related analysis. Results: The levels of FT3 and FT4 in diabetic patients were significantly lower than those in control group (P less than 0.05). Thyroid dysfunction accounted for 36.2%, of which 27.6% showed hypofunction and 8.6% showed hyperthyroidism. Conclusion: The incidence of thyroid dysfunction in diabetic patients is high, especially the prevalence of hypothyroidism is high.
