艾丽丝·沃克在《紫色》小说中通过对男性霸权文化语境下传统两性人物形象的建构、解构与倒置,塑造出一群兼具女性人格特质和男性人格特质的“双性同体”形象,表征了自己理想境界中实现男女两性精神合作、共同平等和谐生活的文学诉求。斯皮尔伯格在同名改编电影中对银屏人物形象的成功塑造则取决于他对原著的选择性继承和合理性背离的有机结合。以《紫色》为例,从文学与影视双重视角剖析文学经典的人物多维度刻画,不仅有助于全面鉴赏这部名著人物形象的审美意蕴,而且有助于对整部小说思想艺术性在广度和深度上的挖掘。
