本文共分三部分。第一部分简述了地球的全球性观测的目的，然后，从最早的气象卫星说起，再讲到美国的陆地卫星和世界各国发射的有关卫星，接着叙述了有关全球性观测的若干国际活动和美国计划中的地球观测系统（ＥＯＳ）。第二部分介绍了遥感技术与全球性观测发展中的一些曲折过程。第三部分论述了中国在全球性观测方面所做的贡献及前景。
This article is divided into three parts. The first part outlines the purpose of the Earth’s global observations. Then, speaking of the earliest meteorological satellites, referring again to the United States terrestrial satellite and related satellites launched by countries in the world, a number of international activities on global observations and United States planned Earth Observation System (EOS). The second part introduces some twists and turns in the development of remote sensing technology and global observation. The third part discusses China’s contributions and prospects in the field of global observation.
