中国的青铜酒器艺术与酒文化一样源远流长,起源于夏。现已发现最早的青铜酒器为夏二里头文化时期的爵,在商周达到鼎盛,衰落于春秋。在商代,由于奴隶主嗜好饮酒,并常有隆重的仪式,因而促进了酿酒业的发展,青铜酒器的制作技术也随之提高,达到前所未有的繁荣。在当时的职业中还出现了“长勺氏”和“尾勺氏”等专门以制作酒器为生的氏族。周代饮酒之风虽然不如商代,但酒器制作基本上沿袭了商代的风格。
