“Air Force Project Forecast 2” selected some advanced technology and system solutions. Experts believe these technologies and programs are important and will enable the United States to have regular space flight capabilities by the turn of the next century. Fighter jets will not be subject to weather and night conditions and will be able to develop new strategic offensive and defensive systems. Gen. L.A.Skantze, Commander of Air Force Systems Command, said 70 projects were selected for Project Leader 2 in their new technologies and systems that will greatly enhance the U.S. defense capability against future threats. The Air Force plans to complete 39 technical studies and 31 system plans by 1988. Air Force laboratories have been designated to begin research on many programs and funding has been allocated.
